Prior to coming to Charleston he served as Minister of Youth at First Baptist Church, Lenoir, NC and First Baptist Church, Greenville, SC. He is a native of Cherryville, North Carolina, and is a graduate of Wake Forest University, the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Emory University. "When you go to seminary, you dream of what a church might be like. Providence is as close to my dream as I may ever get. This is a loving, caring congregation where we have the freedom to try new things, ask tough questions, and do things in a different way — all the while knowing that you will be loved, no matter what the result." Don and his wife, Anita, are the parents of two daughters, Alison and Savannah. He enjoys playing golf, biking and dreams of having a sailboat.
