It was Easter afternoon when two disciples made their way to Emmaus. A stranger walked along with them that they didn't recognize...until he broke the bread. How often are we blinded to seeing Jesus? Might our eyes be open as we break bread together?
That's Life? I Doubt It!
He gets a bad name every year, right after Easter! Doubting Thomas! But is it deserved? What did he doubt? Who did he doubt?
Maybe we need a Doubting Thomas to wake us to faith!
Who Is Really Alive?
If Easter doesn't scare you, you aren't paying attention!" But fear isn't the last word. The women left the tomb with "fear and great joy." May we experience both this Easter Day!
From Pew to Passion: These Bones CAN Live
We have good intentions. We want to do good. But there are times when things get in the way, we are detoured, things happen. It is easy to get discouraged, but what if God's spirit might breathe on us anew. Might our dry bones live?
From Pew to Passion: Time to Get Moving
The only way to get prepared to cross the bridge is to get moving. But many times we just settle for what is. God is always calling us to be "unsettled." That was the call to Abram, and to us!
From Pew to Passion: Recognizing the Situation
Lent is a time of preparation. But before we can even begin we have to recognize where we are. We have to remember our basic story, the one that starts way back in the garden. It is a parable. It is true. It is our story. It is where our journey to the passion begins.

As if a Virgin Could Conceive
What happens when we hear a story in its context, rather than just a snippet? Could we discover that the story isn't about a woman, but about us?
As If the Crocus Could Bloom
Crocus don't just happen! They take a lot of planning, planting, mulching, watering, work. The same thing is true for our lives. If we want flowers in the spring there is work to do before the ground freezes! What are we doing to make sure we have crocus?
As If...the Wolf Could Live with the Lamb
As we continue to imagine what it would be like to live in the world Isaiah saw, as we continue to imagine what it would be like to live as if.... we wonder about peace. How can the wolf lie with the lamb where both get sleep? What will it take for the lion to lie with the calf? What will it take for us to live with each other?
As If...Swords Were Beat into Plowshares
Advent is the beginning of something new. It is the church's New Year Celebration, where we can do things differently. We can live as if...... We can live as if we have hope!
A Faith that Gives Life
Does your faith make a difference in your life? Does your faith offer you life today? If not, maybe it is time to read the story a different way!
A Faith That Endures
Is your faith dependent on the circumstances of life, or will your faith endure the tough times, those times when things aren't going the way you planned, hoped? It is in those times that we discover where we truly place our faith.
There was a problem with our recording, and the scripture reading was not captured. The text for the sermon is Luke 21:5-19
