We are made for relationship. Let that sink in a minute.
Relationship with God and others is why we are here. One reason we come to church is to be with others who want those same things and to share our lives with encouragement, love and support.
This summer, we are going to be more intentional about being community. We are going to start Community groups to foster deeper relationships, encouragement, love, and support at Providence.
Called to Community Study
Some groups will use the book, "Called to Community: The Life Jesus Wants for his People". It is a collection of essays written by many authors around the topic of community. The essays are short and questions are included in the book. Participants will read the assigned chapter and come prepared to share questions, insights, thoughts, or just listen to others. We will offer this community-building study time beginning in June:
· "Sunday Lunch Bunch" – this class will begin on June 11 and will meet mmediately after church @11:45. This will be followed by lunch out or the group could bring bag lunches. The meal is up to the group.
· Week-day group "Lunch and Learn" will begin the week of June 12 on a day to be determined @ noon. This group will decide where to eat/bring bag lunch, etc.
· Also, starting in June, the same study will be offered on Sunday night (or some other night, depending on the group’s preference). This is the “Snack and Study" with snack supper at the church (members provide however they choose).
Another topic will be offered by LeAnn Gardner and Marjorie Avent for a 6-week study of "The Road back to You" by Cron/Stabile using the Enneagram.
During this study, LeAnn and Marjorie will guide you through a study of the Enneagram using Ian Cron and Suzanne Stabile's book: The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery and supplemental videos. They have found the book to be a practical and useful tool both for better understanding personalities as well as for spiritual formation. This is an introductory course on the Enneagram and is great for those new to the Enneagram or those wanting a refresher on material they’ve learned previously.
The study begins Sunday, June 18. Please bring $15 for the participants' guide so that the time together will be most meaningful and rich. To register and for questions, please contact: email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
