Becoming a Member of Providence
While you are welcomed to "just visit" Providence--we really won't treat you any differently from anyone else, we do invite you to consider becoming a member. Joining says something about your willingness to say "I want to be a part of what God is doing in and through the life of this congregation." It says to others that you can be counted on to help make Providence "a loving inclusive Christian community." Joining also says that you will help carry the load of helping ministry happen--though the stewardship of our time, finances and energy.
Joining is not a complicated process. The traditional way is to come to the front of the church during the closing hymn of a worship service and tell the minister that you wish to be a member of the church. You will be introduced to the congregation and they will have an opportunity to welcome you "officially!" We realize that for many this is a foreign, and maybe a terrifying idea! If that is too frightening an idea. come and talk to one of our ministers and let them know of your desire to be a member. They will share that with the congregation and you will be just as welcomed!
