Adult

The Adult Ministry at Providence seeks to engage adults on their faith journey and encourage them to grow a deeper relationship with God. Adults have opportunities during Sunday School, Wednesday nights, and at other times throughout the year to spend time in Bible Study, faith formation, and topical life studies.

Sunday School is the backbone of the Adult educational ministry. Our classes are intergenerational and use both conventional and topical literature for their curriculum. Smyth & Helwys, the Upper Room, and Abingdon Press are a few of the publishers adult classes use to spark conversations for learning.

Cyndy Keyes leads a class in room B-7.  She uses the Smyth& Helwys "Formations" literature.

Scott Christie leads a class in room B-9.  Scott leads a book study--either a book of the Bible or a theological book study.

Matt Largent coordinates a Young Families class in room B-11.  This class of young adults leads their own discussions based on books that assist them in raising Christian families.

Max Sanders leads a class in room B-13.  Max uses the "Immersion" Book Series which takes one book of the Bible at a time.

Charles Taylor leads a class in room A-4.  Charles alternates between studying a book of the Bible and a book on theology.

Frequently on Wednesday nights, we present topical seminars of interest to the congregation. These “life-seminars” range from in-depth Bible studies, to practical discussions including caring for aging parents, to discovering new ways to relate to your child and teen.

Throughout the year, a monthly book club meets to discuss the theology found in contemporary literature. We also offer longer commitment courses like Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace University” and “Companions in Christ” an Upper Room spiritual formation study.
